What a psychomatrix and Pythagorean square are

Each cell of the square is a separate quality: character, energy, interest in sciences, health, logic, work, luck, duty, memory. The strength of a quality is how many times the digit appeared in the count, not “which digit looks nicer”. An empty cell does not cross a person out: it simply means this quality was not issued ready-made, and it is usually built by the person themselves.

Eight lines are counted separately: three rows, three columns, and two diagonals. In the 1-4-7 / 2-5-8 / 3-6-9 layout the rows answer for drive, family, and stability; the columns — for self-worth, money and household, and talent; the diagonals — for spirit and temperament. A line is exactly as strong as its cells: first you read the cells, then the sum.

Psychomatrix and Pythagorean square are two names for one table: Alexandrov introduced the word “psychomatrix”, and the calculation and the reading are the same. Sometimes this grid is called a Pythagorean table, but it is not related to the multiplication table: here you count repeats of the date’s digits. Compatibility of two dates is counted on a separate page — here one square is read from one date of birth.

A destiny matrix and an octogram are another language: another grid and other numbers; they cannot be checked against the Pythagorean square cell by cell. If a theme repeated in both readings, it is most likely visible in ordinary life as well. If it did not repeat — that is not a calculator error, simply the systems are different.

This is not a horoscope, not medicine, and not a sentence. The digits are useful as a mirror: where you have support, where the weak spot is, what is worth building. They hint at leanings, but they oblige you to nothing. The free reading on this page is there so you can see and understand the calculation, not “learn your fate”.

How to calculate a Pythagorean square by birth date

  1. Sum every digit of DD.MM.YYYY — first working number (W1).

  2. Sum the digits of W1 once — second (W2). It may stay 10–12.

  3. Subtract twice the first digit of the day from W1 — third (W3).

  4. Sum the digits of W3 — fourth (W4).

  5. Place every digit of the date and working numbers except zero into cells 1–9. Write repeats (111), not a count (“3”).

Reading a Pythagorean square

A Pythagorean square reading is read in layers. First the core: character (cell 1) and energy (cell 2) — willpower and the reserve of strength depend on them. These two cells have separate blocks on marriage and on where to point your strength. Then come interest in sciences and health, then logic, work, luck, duty, and memory.

Alexandrov’s scale is simple. An empty cell — the quality was not issued “in the pack”; it is built. One digit — the quality is there, but the reserve is small. Two — ordinary working strength. Three — the quality is expressed brightly (for ones, three is the golden mean). Four and more — excess: the quality starts to press on life. In the square we write the repeats themselves — “111”, not “3” — so the reading does not hide the real count.

The strength of a line is counted as the sum of digits in its three cells; the position of a digit inside the line does not matter. The marks are: empty; one or two digits — weak; three or four — working strength; five or six — bright, already on the edge; seven and more — overload, at which the quality often weakens. The diagonals are compared with each other: what matters more for the person in a relationship — meaning or the body.

character

Cell 1 is character: will, the ability to say your own and not step back out of politeness. In the Pythagorean square it is read together with the second cell: a firm character without energy runs out fast, and energy without character goes to other people’s deeds. An empty one does not mean “no personality” — the course is simply set more often by outer supports: a calendar, a promise said aloud, a person who waits for an answer. And many ones are not “better”: next to such a person it is easy to feel as if you are in a headquarters.

energy

Cell 2 is energy: the day’s reserve of strength, pace, how you bear contact. This is not “charisma” and not the ability to be on a stage, but how much quiet you need after a talk and when the body asks for food and sleep before pride admits it. An empty two often masks itself as laziness, though it is usually fatigue. Many twos — the person warms a room and just as quickly empties it. The point is the same: character decides where to spend this reserve.

interest

Cell 3 is interest in sciences: where the mind goes and how you enter an unfamiliar topic — through a question, observation, a scheme, or a short trial. This cell almost does not affect marriage, but it does affect study, work, and what occupies your evenings. An empty three does not forbid learning — interest simply has to be held by a timetable, not waited for as inspiration. Many threes — the mind itself runs to a new topic, leaving the old one unfinished.

health

Cell 4 is health: the body’s reserve, endurance, the attitude to a regime. This is not a diagnosis and not a substitute for a check-up, but a hint to guard sleep, food, and load in advance. An empty four does not put a cross — it means the body does not forgive crunches. Many fours — there is a reserve, and it is easy to burn in the mode of “while I am holding”. In the money-and-household line this cell shows whether there will be enough strength for ordinary home life.

logic

Cell 5 is logic: how you think and build a plan when there are few facts. This is not a test of “whether you are smarter”, but a way into a task: through a scheme or through live experience. An empty five does not make a person stupid — the decision simply arrives more often after a trial, not before it. Many fives — the mind measures the living with a ruler and is angry when life does not match the calculation.

work

Cell 6 is work: hands, skill, the attitude to a concrete deed — to mend, to cook, to close a list. This is not a grade for laziness. An empty six does not cancel work — the household simply holds on reminders, not on love of the process. Many sixes — the person works and forgets to stop. In the money-and-household line this cell answers for “done”, not for talk about the deed.

luck

Cell 7 is luck: a feel for the moment, the ability to notice an opened window and step into it. This is not a lottery and not a guarantee of a win. An empty seven does not stamp “unlucky” — a chance simply does not arrive by itself; it is prepared by a calendar and by people. Many sevens — the person jumps into every window and then deals with the consequences. In the drive and talent lines a seven without support from neighbouring cells stays a one-time flash.

duty

Cell 8 is duty: responsibility, memory of those close to you, the ability to keep promises and rules. This is not permission for everyone to use you. An empty eight does not make a person dishonest — the border of “mine and yours” simply has to be said aloud, or it will be drawn for you. Many eights — the person carries someone else’s load and takes offence that they were not thanked.

memory

Cell 9 is memory: a mind that holds details, the ability to remember — and the ability to forget on purpose. This is not an IQ test. An empty nine does not erase the past — experience simply has to be written down: a list, a photograph, a repetition aloud. Many nines — the old easily becomes the judge of everything new. In the spirit and talent lines this cell decides whether you learn from experience or carry it as a load.

Drive1-4-7

Line 1-4-7 is drive: character, health, and luck. It shows how an intention is born and what keeps you from dropping a deed in the middle, where wish is mixed with capacity. An empty line does not cancel a dream — the aim simply has to be split into short steps with dates. Overload — the person sets aims faster than the body and circumstances can follow. The reading is always the same: first the cells, then the sum.

Family2-5-8

Line 2-5-8 is family: energy, logic, and duty. This is the pull to live among one’s own and to build a house, not only a career — but not at any cost and not on the order of “when children”. An empty line does not forbid those close to you: the house simply holds on agreements — who cooks, who is silent in the evening, who pays. Overload — family eats the whole day, and nothing is left for your own path.

Stability3-6-9

Line 3-6-9 is stability: interest, work, and memory. These are habits, attachments, and the price you pay for a move or a change of job. An empty line does not turn life into chaos — the order is simply gathered by yourself: repetition, a list, the same hour. Overload — the person holds on to the familiar even when it has long been tight. Changes here are prepared one step at a time.

Self-worth1-2-3

Line 1-2-3 is self-worth: character, energy, and interest. It shows what you rest on in ordinary decisions — your own position, state, and interest, or someone else’s gaze. A stage is needed so that you can be found, not so that you live for attention. An empty line does not mean the person is “worse than others” — the support simply has to be named in advance. Overload — self-worth sounds louder than the deed itself.

Money and household4-5-6

Line 4-5-6 is money and household: health, logic, and work. This is the table, the roof, the account, and the arranging of everyday deeds — not a grade for wealth, but the ability to provide for one’s own. An empty line does not mean poverty: money and the house are simply led by a list, not by “later, somehow”. Overload — the household occupies the whole head, and no day is left for a live life.

Talent7-8-9

Line 7-8-9 is talent: luck, duty, and memory. It shows how a gift, responsibility, and mind add up to a result. The line by itself does not make a genius and does not promise a profession. An empty line does not close a deed — the ability simply has to be put on repetition and terms. Overload — talent without a frame scatters into separate flashes.

Spirit1-5-9

Diagonal 1-5-9 is spirit: character, logic, and memory. This is a taste for meaning, for a talk about why you are here — not a rite for the rite’s sake. An empty diagonal does not make a person empty: they find meaning in a deed and in people, not in formulas. Overload — talks about the high block out an ordinary day. The pale text on the card is there to hint: this is a diagonal.

Temperament3-5-7

Diagonal 3-5-7 is temperament: interest, logic, and luck. This is the bodily: closeness, food, appearance, the force of desire. Another speed is not a “cold person”. An empty diagonal does not cancel the body: desire has to be noticed and named, not waited for to turn into a plan by itself. Overload — the impulse runs ahead of the decision. Look at the spirit diagonal next to it: it will hint which language of closeness you need.

Calculating the Pythagorean square by Alexandrov’s method

Write the date in the DD.MM.YYYY format. The leading zero of the month is kept: March is 03. The first working number W1 is the sum of all digits of the date. The second, W2, is the sum of the digits of W1 (we add once; 10, 11, and 12 are not compressed further). The third, W3, is W1 minus the doubled first digit of the day (not the whole day: for the 28th we take 2, for the 5th — 5). The fourth, W4, is the sum of the digits of W3. We put the working numbers into the common set as they are: we do not pad a nine with a zero to “09”.

Gather into one set all the digits of the date and of all four working numbers, and drop the zeros. Put each one into the first cell, each two into the second, and so on to nine. This is exactly how a Pythagorean square is filled by hand; the calculator at the top does the same set automatically.

Zeros do not enter the cells

Other sites sometimes give another result — because they write the day differently (5 instead of 05), compress W2 and W4 to one digit, or put zero into the square. We keep to one scheme — Alexandrov’s scheme — and we mark honestly the places where the schools diverge.

Checking the calculation for free is simple: enter the same date in the calculator on this page and compare the cells with your count on paper. If even one cell does not match, the error is in the working numbers — not “another fate”.

Common questions about calculating a Pythagorean square

What is the Pythagorean square?

A 3×3 table built from the birth-date digits plus four working numbers. Also called a psychomatrix. Each cell is a trait; strength is how often that digit repeats.

How do I calculate it by hand?

Sum every digit of DD.MM.YYYY for the first working number. Sum those digits for the second. Subtract twice the first digit of the day from the first number for the third. Sum the third for the fourth. Place every digit except zero into cells 1–9.

What does an empty cell mean?

That digit never appeared. The trait is not “missing forever” — people usually grow it. It is not a diagnosis.

Why do other sites show different digits?

Schools disagree on leading zeros, whether to reduce working numbers to one digit, and whether zeros enter the square. We follow Alexandrov: one digit-sum for W2 and W4, zeros stay out of the cells.

Should I trust the result?

This is recreational numerology, not psychology or medicine. Treat the numbers as a prompt, not a fact about a person.

How does a psychomatrix differ from a Pythagorean square?

It does not. Alexandrov used “psychomatrix” for the same 3×3 table.

Why read lines if I have the cells?

Cells are what you have. Lines are how that folds into aim, home, means, talent, spirit and temperament. You can have strong energy and a weak aim: boiling and not walking.

How do I compare two squares?

Open the compatibility page — a separate URL. Two squares, then the gap on 9 cells and 8 lines. Close digits are not always “good”: two zeros matched in a weakness.
